The Eureka Creole House, built in the 19th century, is located along the Moka River. The elegant Creole residence was originally owned by English and French aristocrats of the 19th century. The facade of the building is surrounded by a spacious wooden veranda, painted white. Eureka House is much more than a house and a museum, a residence with many kilometers of paths. The house is simply surrounded by many small waterfalls, endemic plants and lush tropical gardens. You find yourself in a world of peace and harmony. Port - Louis is the Mauritius' largest city and the economic and administrative center of the island. Right off the main square you can stroll besides the palm-lined Place d'Armes. The botanical garden stretches over endless acres of land and it may take you more than a week to cover the whole garden. It is populated with more than 650 varieties of plants among which are the famous Baobabs, the Palmier Bouteille, the ineluctable Giant Water Lilies, dozens of medicinal plants, a large spice garden and many more. The tour of the old sugar mill, which has been transformed into a modern museum, lasts about 1 hours, at the end of tour, delightful sugar and rum tastings await the visitor.
